Recognizing the Protection of Motorsports Act of 2016, also known as the RPM Act, was drafted to ensure that turning street vehicles into race cars driven exclusively in competition does not violate the Clean Air Act.
This bipartisan bill was reintroduced to our new Congress this year. This bill protects our rights as Americans to modify our street cars and motorcycles into dedicated race vehicles. It also maintains the industry's right to sell race parts for racing competitions.
Many types of racing were founded on the premise that street cars, motorcycles, etc. could be converted into racing vehicles. Think of the economic impact that racing has on all of our communities. Racing is a source for income, entertainment and its participants range from amateurs to professionals. Think of all the related jobs that come with the racing industry, not only at the tracks but all the part manufacturers, suppliers and sales.
Our American heritage is now being threatened by the EPA. This bill was not intended for motor vehicles being converted for competition use only. Support this bill and prevent EPA's misinterpretation for the future of racing.
